LPG Gas conversions
March 19th, 2010
LPG Gas Conversions The reality that the average consumer faces today is the price of petroleum products seem to go up by the day. There seems to be no change in this. Every time we go to fill the tanks of our cars, one thing for sure is that gas price will be high. Fortunately here in Australia there are alternatives to driving a petrol or diesel powered vehicle. In August of 2006 The Australian government has announced “LPG Vehicle Scheme”. The purpose of this scheme is to help vehicle owners to either convert their existing cars so that it can use LPG, or when you buy a new car to buy a factory installed LPG powered vehicle. This is how the scheme works; 1) the government will give a grant of 2000 dollars to convert a new or used vehicle to a LPG converted vehicle. Although since 2009 there has been a modification of this and that is, from 1-7-2009 it will be 1750 dollars, 1500 dollars from 1-7- 2010, 1250 dollars 1-7-2011, 1000 dollars 1-7-2012.to 30-6-2014. The next incentive was a grant of 1000 dollars if you bought a car before 10 November 2008 that had a factory installed LPG unit. After that if you bought a vehicle that had LPG unit installed at the time of manufacture after 10 November 2008 a grant of 2000 dollars is given. But Even if you do not go for one of these government incentives, it is possible to convert your vehicle to a LPG converted car at a reasonable price. The amount of time it takes for LPG conversion varies according to the size. A medium size family sedan can be converted in a couple of days, whereas a large four wheel drive car can take up to a week to complete. The total cost of auto gas conversions can be anywhere between 2500 to 4500 dollars. This may seem like a lot to do an LPG conversion to your car but don’t forget that in a little as 15 months you will start to save at the gas pumps with your new Auto gas conversion installed. The amount of money you will save in the long run will more than payoff the LPG Gas conversion price of your vehicle. Auto gas is usually around 50 cents less than regular gas. But it is not only the price that is leading some people to do auto gas conversions. Today “go green” is the new mantra. LPG is far less polluting than other petroleum products because when it burns it does not leave a carbon dioxide foot print as large as petrol of diesel fumes. So now you can do your bit to help save the environment with a car that has gone through LPG conversion.
